Are oxygen concentrators safer than tanks?
When it comes to oxygen use safety, oxygen concentrators are a significantly lower safety risk than oxygen tanks. Because oxygen concentrators pull oxygen from the surrounding air and compress and purify it, rather than storing oxygen for later use, they do not leak, which considerably reduces any danger of combustion.
An oxygen concentrator isn’t the same thing as an oxygen tank, which delivers liquid or gas oxygen. Instead, the concentrator is a machine that pulls in the air around you and filters out the nitrogen. A thin tube runs from the device to your face, giving you purified oxygen through two open prongs below your nostrils.
