Pressurized oxygen for 3 months, the body can be 25 years younger?
Israeli scientists have achieved a breakthrough study, according to the Daily Mail. This is a biological study that can change the state of aging. In this unique study, scientists used oxygen therapy to reverse two key indicators of biological aging, “telomere shortening” and “senescent cell accumulation. According to the researchers, such therapy can change the body of the elderly.
As we age, the human body on the one hand experiences shortening of telomeres (protective caps on chromosomes), which can lead to diseases including cancer, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. On the other hand senescent cells or so-called zombie cells can accumulate in the body and prevent cell regeneration.
For this reason, scientists at Tel Aviv University in Israel have targeted a form of therapy called hyperbaric oxygen therapy to stop the deterioration of these two features in the human aging process
The study has now been published in a journal called Aging. It shows that the researchers found 35 healthy older adults aged 64 and older to participate in the study, who were placed in a pressurized oxygen chamber in Israel and wore oxygen masks to inhale pure oxygen. This simple operation was followed for 90 minutes at a time, five days a week, for a total of three months.
According to the researchers, the principle involved is that the pressurized chamber in which the participants were placed simulated a state of hypoxia, allowing tissue cells to dissolve more oxygen, thereby promoting cell regeneration.
The results showed that the experiment allowed the human telomeres to regrow by more than 20 percent, while their senescent cells were reduced by 37 percent. The scientists say this is equivalent to the cellular level their bodies were at 25 years ago.
